Brianne DeSmet attends college in Chico, California, and is a full-time student. Her goals are to complete her BS degree, become a board certified dental hygienist, and minor in Nutrition. Brianne developed an interest in the fitness arena through her friend Gina Ellis, a 3 time WTF competitor under the direction of Darla Benfield, Fitness-4-You. Brianne pursued her interests in fitness and began training with Darla initially to educate herself on proper fitness training and nutrition. Brianne continued to watch her friend Gina excel at her sport, and she too was inspired to compete. Brianne became part of the Fitness-4-You Team, underwent very disciplined and committed training, and competed in her first WTF event this year, July 2005, the Las Vegas World……no easy show for a beginning competitor. Brianne appreciated the support of her trainer and team mates as she worked for months to prepare for the event and overcame many personal obstacles. Brianne completed the obstacle course and stepped on stage for the first time with 200 women for Grace and Physique. What a way to boost self-esteem! Brianne took in the whole WTF experience and through it gained new friends, a new appreciation for fitness women who take on the challenge of the course, and was inspired by the people in the fitness industry. Brianne intends to compete again with the goals of being better than before, learning even more than she did before, and again relishing in the entire experience of being a part of something some people only talk about doing. “I can honestly say that I am an athlete, have conquered the course and the stage, and I am happy.” Brianne’s hobbies include her dedication to her training, spending time with friends and family, attending rodeos…….she not only enjoys the sport, but may be supporting a special someone????? and, of course, homework, at least for now.
